Good morning and hello from Kenosha! We planned to leave today and head down to Hammond and join our organized flotilla scheduled to depart Hammond on Oct 2nd. We, and by that I mean me, are learning that on the Loop, all plans are “soft” and can change!
America’s Great Loop Cruising Association (AGCLA) has been organizing the 280+ AGLCA member boats doing the loop this year into flotilla groups of 16 boats. This should expedite the movement of pleasure crafts down the Illinois River when the locks re-open. The Army Corp has been rebuilding 3 locks, which were to be closed from June 1st-Oct 1st. Everything seemed to be going well, until we received an email yesterday afternoon. We were informed that all flotillas have been pushed back 5 days for various reasons. This means we will hang out here in Kenosha until Sunday late morning and then heading down to Hammond and join our group, and many others staging in Hammond.
So we are enjoying getting to walk, ride, and learn about Kenosha WI.

Southport Marina, where we are docked, is a great facility with an outside deck and grills with a perfect view of the harbor and lake.

As we are learning about the town, we found out about a great restaurant here in town, Franks’ Diner. It is the oldest continually serving streetcar restaurant in the US. Had a great breakfast, The Garbage Plate, which had everything you wanted in it!

It was a little rainy yesterday, but we will dry out!
Had our first real “docktails” with fellow loopers last evening here in the harbor and then enjoyed a nice dinner at a pub near the harbor together. I think it was fun for Amy to talk with someone else other than me!
Just wanted to update everyone on our lack of movement for a few days. I will post more fun in Kenosha before we move on Sunday.
Enjoy your day and have a great rest of your week!
