All Rested And Ready To Go 10/22/2023

Good morning from Green Turtle Bay Resort and Marina. We have been here since Wednesday afternoon and have relaxed, cleaned the boat inside and out, and had some additional electronics works done.

After adding all new electronics to the boat over the last two years, the system was not working properly. I spent some time on the phone with Garmin’s engineering department and they were able to figure out what was going wrong. Should be an easy fix by adding a satellite compass to correct any electrical interference. Sounds simple! I was able to find a certified Garmin installer in the area and he was on the same page as the Garmin engineer. A great sign! Well, the simple install of the satellite compass has turned into running new cables all through the boat, replacing a rudder feedback sensor, and replacing both antennas on the roof of the boat. To do this, we pulled out all the old cables and wires, and ran all new! He and I are 15 hours into this project and still have to sea trial everything tomorrow morning! Hope it all goes well!

Justin has been great and really working hard to get us going on time!

Amy and I have had time to run around the Grand Rivers area and explore the local joints as well as take in some of the famous spots! If you are in this area, you have to stop and see Patti’s!

This has been a great stop and a needed rest after getting off the Mississippi River. Staying for 5 nights has allowed many of the Loopers that we met in Hammond to catch up with us, so it has been fun to see them again. We also had the opportunity to celebrate wake crossings with a couple boats we met in Hammond.

Saturday we had a visit from great friends that we have known for 30+ years.

They have a condo in the area, so they stopped over to see the boat and then we went out for dinner at Patti’s for the famous Patti’s Pork Chop! It was fantastic, and thank you Skip and Jeanette for dinner. A visit to their condo for dessert, and then back to the boat. We walked around Patti’s village and in typical Skip and Scott fashion, had some fun!

Had to start with a little appetizer and cocktail at GTB!

Today will be a day of complete relaxation for Amy and me, and of course Memphis!

Plan to exchange our dinghy in the morning, do the sea trial on the electronics, and hope to out of here no later than noon. (sooner if possible!)

Heading down the TN river and hope to get a slip at Paris Landing State Park and Marina for two nights. We want to be there Tuesday and help fellow loopers celebrate as they cross their wake. By the way, crossing your wake is what it is called when you get back to where you started your loop experience. For us that will be Ephraim WI sometime next fall.

Hope you have a great Sunday, and more to come from Paris Landing in a couple days.
