Back To Our Route 11/13/2023

We are back at Aqua Yachts in Iuka MS and have been blessed today with the service gods! Over the last couple weeks we have had the generator cutting off and more recently had the breaker for the horn start tripping.

We had planned to be at Aqua Yachts for two nights and hoped they could try to fix the generator and maybe the horn. Before they could get over here today, I found the air leak on the horn and they had a service guy who could fit outboard of my starboard engine and replace the broken fitting. Horn solved!

Now for the generator. He arrived and we started the generator. It ran for 15 minutes and then cut off. The error code was for a thermostat sensor. He started into the sound shield and found the sensor quickly. The sensor was not screwed in tight and a wire was also loose. Tightened things down and it is running perfect. At least we hope so!

So we are two for two today! I want to thank Aqua Yachts service team for the great work today on our behalf.

So last post we were leaving Chattanooga and heading back toward Iuka downbound on the Tennessee River. The trip was easy enough and we did cut one day of travel off. We also stayed at a different harbor so we could experience more of the area.

We did not take many pictures on the way back, as you have already seen them for the trip there. Here are a couple fun ones!

More of the typical river view, this does not get old!

You have to love when you park your boat down by the water and have your donkey watch it for you!

A few logs for Mark!

Now for the fun part of the trip. We decided to go into Goose Pond Marina, which only has 5’6″ depth in the channel. Remember, we draw 5′ of water and my props are the lowest part of the boat. We did follow a buddy boat in that drafted 4’6″ and he was watching his depth finder for me. We made it into the dock, but it was the narrowest and shallowest area we have been in yet! By the way, anyone else coming in after us had a nice clear channel to follow as we churned mud the entire way in!

Needless to say, you stay out of the mud and between the cans! (and lift your feet up) Best part was when we arrived, the harbor master asked if we needed fuel! I was quick to tell her no and we would be leaving a bunch of water behind as well!

After this harbor, we had several more locks to get through. One lock told us to be there to lock through at 12:30pm. We arrived by 11:30am to make sure we would be ready. We then waited until 2:30pm to get locked through because they were waiting for bass boats from a local tournament. What a mess in the lock with 8 of us and 10 bass boats.

We plan to start down the Tenn Tom Waterway tomorrow morning and should be down to Mobile AL in approximately 9-10 days.

I will post more as I have coverage along the route. Until then have a great week!
