Ok, so I am not talking about how Alabama football played against a small school and beat them by almost 40 points today. I am referring to the fact that we have now run through the following states: WI, IL, MO, KY, TN, MS, and now AL. We are now in Alabama until we enter Florida.
We left Columbus Marina at 6:30am, or as Amy calls it, just before the sun wakes up! We ran further Friday then we had planned to get through 3 locks and make Saturday an easy run. We were lucky with the locks and were able to pull right in when we arrived at each lock. This allowed us to make 70 miles with 3 locks Friday. That is a big day!
There was not much to see Friday, except the famous phone booth on the bank!

We continued through the Heflin Lock, our 3rd of the day, and then set the hook for the night in Old River at mile marker 264.5. There were 8 boats anchored in this area with great depth. We spent the evening with two other boats and had a great night. And by night I mean we were back to our boat by 9PM. (Looper Midnight)
Memphis was great and we took her out three times to the boat ramp where she mostly stayed clean jumping in and out of the dinghy. This taking the dog out is a two person team event without a dock to tie to.
Today we got up and relaxed before leaving the anchorage at 8am.
I did make pancakes first, and even took some to our two buddy boats that treated us to dinner last night. It was nice to not have to rush out in the morning.
Easy day with only 50 miles to run. Pulled into Kingfisher Bay Marina at 2:45pm. We will stay here for two nights and relax before we push for two days to reach Mobile Bay.
Today we passed the famous White Cliffs along the Tombigbee!

One of our buddy boats from the last couple days as they pass by the cliffs.
Here is a great shot taken by Idaho Red as we caught up to them again today. We will be with them for the next couple days.

Here are a few partial logs of the trip, as the coverage along this area has been very hit or miss.

I will write more when we get to Mobile and try to remember to take more pictures.
We plan to arrive in Gulf Shores Thanksgiving Day if all goes well.
By the way, the generator appears to be fixed!! It ran for 14 hours straight, and Amy and I could not have been happier!!
Until next post, have a great rest of your weekend and first part of next week.
