Good morning from Cape Eleuthera Resort and Marina. Since the last post we moved from Norman’s Cay to Highbourne Cay, and then across part of the Atlantic Ocean in over 5000′ of water to Eleuthera.
After leaving Norman’s Cay, it was only a 16-mile trip up to Highbourne. This was an easy day with calm seas and calm winds. By this I mean 1-2′ waves and winds at 15 knots or less. Can’t believe what we are now calling calm.

Sorry, we only have my phone turned on here in the Bahamas and I keep forgetting to turn on the Nebo tracker when we leave the harbor!

Highbourne is another private island at the top of the Exumas. It was a great stop and a well-protected harbor for some strong winds later that day. It was also a great stop to spend some time on the beach while being surrounded by Mega Yachts.

We are tucked in next to the bow out sport fish boat. Hard to even find us in here!

This was a nice relaxing beach day for us.

Found an old wishing well, actually a dried up ditch of sorts!

Small feeding frenzy as the fisherman drop the leftover fish parts into the ocean right near the swimming beach. Needless to say, we did not swim at that beach.

This is the beach on the other side of the fish cleaning station.
We actually saw lots of nurse sharks, as well as 3 large bull sharks and even two black tip reef sharks. I made friends with a gentleman from St Louis on a mega yacht who had been out fishing with his crew, and he gave us some fresh Mahi and Mackerel. We are enjoying all the fresh fish down here.
Next morning was supposed to be stormy and we needed a weather window to cross over to Eleuthera. We ended up leaving at 9:20am to beat the storms across the open ocean. The plan worked and we were into Eleuthera before 10:45am.

Storms hitting Highbourne behind us as we run!

Notice the depth is over 5000′ deep. Depth finder does not work at that depth, but who cares!

I know, again I forgot to start the Nebo when leaving the dock.
We arrived safely and without bad weather at Cape Eleuthera Resort and Marina. This is a very quiet resort that seems empty to us. We have enjoyed two nights here and have had plenty of entertainment while relaxing by the pool.
The first day a 400′ schooner came in and they brought 90 people ashore for a bonfire and party. This was quite the show to watch!

We did a small dinghy ride up a creek and out into the sound, but there really is not much to see down on this point of the island. We also took a scooter ride, but really didn’t even see houses for over 10 miles, so we turned around and came back to the resort.
Last night was pizza and music night for the workers here, so we enjoyed with them for a couple of hours before turning in.

Enjoying the local beer with a couple of local people! The beer was ok at best.
Today we will run up the inside of Eleuthera and anchor for two nights at Governor’s Harbor. This is getting into the more populated area of the island, at least we think so.
We will spend two nights at Governor’s Harbor, then another two nights on the anchor at Hatchet Bay. Then we will be moving to Spanish Wells on Wednesday. Plan to spend 4 nights at Spanish Wells while looking for a weather window to cross over to the Abacos.
I will try to post again when we get to Spanish Wells, so hope you have a great weekend and start to next week!
